Emily Karu

Emily is an avid reader and writer, a love she discovered in 3rd grade thanks to her teacher, Mrs. Bubblewitz. Since then she has continued to try out new ideas and share her stories with family and close friends. She specializes in Young & New Adult Contemporary Fantasy with a desire to write stories based on her experiences as both a teacher and a coach in the future. 

She is currently querying her novel, The Eternal War; a dark Adult fantasy novel with series potential. It features Estonian folklore inspired magic, the college experience, budding romance, and family secrets.

As a day job, Emily is a high school Special Education and English teacher in South Jersey where she's been working for six years. She's a graduate of Georgian Court University where she's completed her Bachelors of Arts in 2017 for English, Secondary Education, and Teacher of Students with Disabilities. In 2021 she completed her Masters in Administration and Leadership with a desire to become a Principal in the future. 

In addition to writing and teaching, Emily is also the director of her school district's Color Guard program where she instructs, designs, and choreographs performances for her students. In addition to instructing, she has experience performing in scholastic and independent DCA and WGI programs.

Emily currently lives in South Jersey with her dog, Leia.
